ICM shows you at a glance where your company is overlicensed, underlicensed or mislicensed and helps you ensure long-term compliance with the licensing terms of software manufacturers.

The compliance check, i.e. the comparison of the software used with the licenses bought, is a challenge for every license management project because usage data from various sources is required for a comprehensive analysis. Depending on the license/contract model, this may be installation data, the number of users or active processors or the computing power (MIPS).

Aspera has developed ICM in order to address this challenge. This extension module offers standard connectors to all common systems and databases collecting information about installed or used software. These include solutions such as Peregrine Asset Center, CA Unicenter Argis, IBM Tivoli, Centennial, Matrix42 Empirum, Microsoft SMS, Novell ZENWorks and many others.

ICM compares the usage data supplied by these systems with the license inventory stored by SmartTrack, automatically taking organizational assignments into account and correcting any inaccuracies such as different package names for the same products by means of an integrated synonym logic. A key feature of this module is its ability to detect downgrade paths and adjust the result of the compliance check accordingly. Moreover, ICM comprises a graphical analysis history permitting to access any past license situation selected by product and/or organisational unit.
