Conquer the complexity of Software Asset Management inventory
Aspera SmartCollect is a powerful inventory tool that gathers all the data needed to calculate your software usage. It runs a complete discovery of every server and client device, and does both agent-based and agentless data collection.
SmartCollect pulls software data for big vendor networks such as Microsoft, Oracle and IBM, gathering deep details that include product installations, operating systems, running services and hardware assets. It easily scales in large or complex IT environments.
SmartCollect is closely integrated with our SmartTrack platform for Software Asset Management, giving accurate data to calculate license usage, compliance, and reduced costs.
Runs on servers and clients
You get one integrated solution for all devices and systems, whether its 100 servers or 100,000 desktops.
Runs agent or
The choice is yours! Select either agent-based or agentless collection, or a combination of both.
Discovers your whole network
The new Network Discovery feature runs across the entire network to find all device information for the foundation of your inventory. It gathers a wide range of details like server name, host name, parent system, running services and open ports, and operating system name.
Customize the Network Discovery. Choose options for scanning the network, including picking the IP addresses and ports, or excluding IP ranges. Run a Quick Scan for fast results or an Advanced Scan for even more detail.
Automatically refresh network data. Set a daily, weekly, monthly or by-date schedule for the Network Discovery to run. This ensures the inventory is always up to date and it sees new devices added to the system.
Seamless with Aspera SmartTrack
SmartCollect gathers the data for license management, then our SmartTrack SAM platform calculates your usage and costs.
Easily scales in large complex IT
Especially designed for big data centers and highly virtualized environments, and field-tested for almost a decade.
Deep dive into the data
There are almost no limits, as SmartCollect brings in every important detail from thousands of devices.
Tight integration with SAM
SmartCollect is a powerful companion for SmartTrack, our Software Asset Management platform. Both technologies are designed for enterprises with large data centers, complex or hybrid architectures, and highly virtualized environments.
A couple of seamless clicks. SmartCollect pushes its inventory data using a built-in connector (REST) that ensures its raw data works immediately in SmartTrack. We work hard to maintain a very high recognition and easy integration.
View all data gathered. In SmartCollect, you can view the highly detailed information that is made available to SmartTrack. This includes a list of organizations, contracts, devices information, running processes, windows services, software products and versions, and installed packages.
Passes along product recognition. SmartCollect is building an ever-growing library of product signatures. It identifies product details in the discovery phase that can be immediately used for product recognition and license compliance in Software Asset Management.
3,500+ device types
Covers network stations, virtual servers, desktops, laptops, and hardware assets like printers, scanners and audio devices.
7,500+ software assets
Recognizes full product details like installations, versions, editions, options, and usage.
On-premises or cloud
Bring the solution in-house or have Aspera host it as a SaaS product.
We mind the (data) gap for you
Often, Software Asset Management vendors start with an inventory tool that promises to solve all your IT asset management problems. It is marketed as a “must-buy” part of the package. But there are hundreds of products, and no single tool or “silver bullet” that does everything.
In fact, if you work for a large company, it’s likely that you already have discovery in place. Typically, our customers have 80% of the inventory tools, discovery tools, and executable scripts they need. But key data for license management is still missing. SmartCollect can work alongside what you already have to fill that 20% data gap.
The difference between saving and spending
SmartCollect is built to be flexible because today’s IT environment is constantly changing.
Here’s an overview of the deeper capabilities and their benefits to you:
- Simple, fast data gathering. Automatically scans your network with agentless technology to discover what products are installed.
- Secure, reliable & proven. SmartCollect’s data collection process has been expertly field-tested in very large organizations for close to a decade.
- Oracle-verified for Oracle data. SmartCollect is verified by Oracle to produce the same data as Oracle’s own tools in an audit or true-up. Have an Oracle-focused IT environment? This tool is for you.
- Reduce costs.
See where to cut costs with server data and usage metering information such as CPU, RAM and disk usage
- Plan your capacity.
See high watermarks, usage averages and peaks for a given period of time to monitor sub-capacity and capping.
- Dive deep and consolidate.
Detect CPU-bounding — as just one example — to decide which and how servers can be consolidated.
- See data center infrastructure.
Need a full inventory of host, guest, and storage machines? SmartCollect connects directly to Hypervisors or installs on physical machines for a complete overview.
