ST04-1: Catalog: Data Model & Core Maintenance

This basic training focuses on a core element of SmartTrack: the Master Catalog. The different elements of the Master Catalog and the general navigation in SmartTrack will be explained, as well as the differences between the Master Catalog and the Extended Catalog. During the second part of the training, participants will learn how to record data.

Target Group

  • Staff involved in license clearing, especially where individual content will be created internally (customer content)

Content/Learning Objectives

  • Get to know the difference between the Aspera Master Catalog and the Extended Catalog
  • Get to know potential sources for data/information retrieval
  • Learn how to navigate the Master Catalog in SmartTrack
  • Learn how to record manufacturer data, product families, products and articles
  • Learn how to update the Master Catalog

ST04-2: Catalog: Product Modeling

This rather theoretical unit teaches how to extract and transform catalog relevant information in order to import it into SmartTrack. Setting up completely new content and using existing data as a basis for recording data will be shown. How to cope with missing or inconsistent information is also part of this course.

Target Group

  • Staff involved in license clearing, especially when individual content will be created internally (customer content)

Content/Learning Objectives

  • Learn about product data modeling, how to find information about it and what kind of information is necessary
  • Learn how to read product use right descriptions
  • Learn how to modify existing catalog content
  • Learn about challenging cases and how to cope with inconsistent/missing information

ST04-3: Catalog: Extended Practice Session I

By analyzing the licensing relevant documents of different manufacturers, it will be shown which information is important to record data in the catalog. Common data interpretation challenges will also be covered during this widely practical training session.

Target Group

  • Staff involved in license clearing, especially when individual content will be created internally (customer content)

Content/Learning Objectives

  • Learn about different manufacturers and their typical data format
  • Learn how to evaluate the data and transform it to fit SmartTrack specifications
  • Learn about suite vs. bundle
  • Learn about non-perpetual vs. perpetual use rights

ST04-4: Catalog: Extended Practice Session II

Based on customer specific documents, participants will learn how to interpret and extract licensing relevant information. Subsequently, the data is transformed in accordance with the specific naming convention and then recorded. This also includes discussion about potential challenges and how to handle them.

Target Group

  • Staff involved in license clearing, especially with where individual content will be created internally (customer content)

Content/Learning Objectives

  • Learn about customer provided product data
  • Learn about interpretation and potential catalog challenges of customer provided product data
  • Transforming, importing and validating customer provided product data for the Master Catalog
